Welcome to Outeniqua Farmers' Market

The ancient name Outeniqua means ‘the land where honey comes from’. This changed on 19 November 2011 when the Outeniqua Farmers’ Market opened, providing a new shopping destination that created a new heart for George. From that day onwards, Outeniqua is the land where honey, cheese, fish, chocolate, cakes, berries and other delicious foods comes from.

The Outeniqua Farmers’ Market is located opposite the Garden Route Mall on the N2. The five-hectare site is the home to more than 130 food and craft stalls offering produce and goods created by local farmers and skilled craft people. From berries to bread, fish to flowers, and everything in between, local residents and international visitors find carefully selected goods to suit the most discerning tastes, at consistently reasonable prices.

The Outeniqua Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday from 08:00 to 14:00.

“The word Outeniqua means ‘the land where honey comes from.’ We want the Outeniqua Farmers’ Market to be the land where honey, cheese, bread, sweet treats, cakes, international food, flowers, juices and all manner of high quality produce comes from. It will put George on the map as a destination, giving it the heart we always knew it had.”
